Watch a Border Collie Hilariously Outmatched by Playful Orange Cats Who Take Charge!

Dogs have been our friends and helpers for thousands of years. They’re not just pets; they still do many of the jobs they were originally bred for. Take hunting dogs and herding dogs, for example. While some prefer the cozy life of a pet, others love to run, hike, and protect their families.

A great example is a Border Collie named Max, belonging to farmer @mbarmomks. Max works hard on the farm and is the go-to dog for herding livestock. But even the best can have funny moments.

On March 4, Max faced an unexpected challenge— a group of orange cats. Max had her eye on Max the tom cat, but his feline friends quickly rallied to defend him. Instead of herding them, Max found herself getting pushed back!

This amusing turn of events showed how determined Max was, even as the cats nudged her away. It wasn’t until a small white cat gave her a gentle swat that she decided to back off.

As one viewer named Leah pointed out, “Cats are ungovernable.” They truly have their own ideas! The Border Collie may have had her paws full, but she deserves credit for trying. Many viewers couldn’t help but chuckle at the scene. One person humorously remarked that her attempt to herd the cats was like the classic phrase about herding cats—one that Max apparently didn’t remember!

Border Collies are known for their intelligence and hardworking nature. They are often considered one of the smartest dog breeds. They are alert and very observant, making them excellent at herding and protecting livestock.

These dogs thrive when they have a job to do. Whether she’s herding sheep, competing in agility challenges, or serving as a service dog, a Border Collie always gives their best.

So, it’s no surprise that Max couldn’t resist the urge to herd the cats. She was simply following her instincts! Who can blame her for trying?
