Another player likely to see more action is cornerback Brandin Echols. He insists that his preparation won’t change, regardless of the circumstances. “I just keep my focus and try to get the job done,” he said.
The Steelers’ secondary will look different this week, especially against the Bengals. With Jalen Ramsey now a full-time free safety and Kyle Dugger at strong safety, it will be an interesting matchup. Echols feels confident. “We’re bringing our best effort, no matter what.”
Highsmith is missing this game due to a pectoral injury, and Holcomb is still battling an illness that’s kept him out for three weeks. Highsmith expressed his frustration, saying, “I take care of my body and work hard to prevent injuries. It’s tough to be sidelined.”
To fill the gaps, the Steelers have promoted defensive back D’Shawn Jamison and linebacker Mark Robinson from their practice squad. Jamison has been with the team since the end of the last season and has previous experience with the Panthers.
Robinson, drafted in 2022, is also eager to make a mark. He’s had time learning the system and is ready to contribute.
