Leslie Bibb and Sam Rockwell have been happily together since 2007, but they have no plans to get married. Recently, Bibb discussed their choice on Today with Jenna & Friends after hearing about a study showing that many women are opting out of marriage.
Jenna Bush Hager mentioned that about half of women feel marriage isn’t essential for a fulfilling life. Bibb responded with enthusiasm: "You’re talking to the choir! I love Sam Rockwell. I’d carry him with me everywhere. But I do not want to get married.”
Bibb shared that early in their relationship, Rockwell questioned her stance on marriage. “It annoyed the crap out of me," she laughed. "He kept asking if I would change my mind, but he didn’t want to marry either.” Reflecting on their strong bond, she said, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
They have also decided not to have children. Bibb admitted, "I just don’t have that chip in me.” While she holds a lot of respect for motherhood, she feels it’s not a path for her.
User reactions on social media highlight that many people are beginning to embrace alternatives to traditional marriage. According to a recent survey by the Pew Research Center, over 60% of young adults now view marriage as less critical to a successful life compared to previous generations.
Bibb later joked about the situation, saying, "I feel like we are married!" This reflects a growing trend where romantic relationships do not necessarily require a formal commitment to thrive.
Rockwell also joined the show later, reminiscing about their first meeting in 2007, describing it as a “thunderbolt” moment. He joked about Bibb’s talent and whether he would have dated her if she weren’t an actress. His playful response? "No."
In a world where the traditional family structure is evolving, lessons from celebrity relationships like Bibb and Rockwell’s show that love doesn’t fit into one mold. Many couples are finding joy and fulfillment in their unique arrangements, without the need for labels.
