WILLIAMSTOWN — On Valentine’s Day, a thrilling matchup took place between top-ranked Class AA Williamstown and No. 3 Logan. The game was a nail-biter, ending with a 70-69 victory for Williamstown after overtime.
The teams were neck and neck throughout. They entered halftime tied at 29, were level at 46 after three quarters, and finished regulation at 61 points each. Williamstown, on a winning streak of 11 games, shone in the overtime period.
Jayden Bryant led his team with 21 points. Parker Schramm added 18, scoring crucial baskets to force overtime. Cruz Isaly and Tyler Keiser chipped in with 14 and 11 points, respectively.
“It means a lot, especially since we lost to them earlier this year,” Schramm reflected after the game. “They’re a well-coached, tough team. We could see them again at the state tournament.”

Logan held the lead at one point, going up by eight points thanks to McCormick Ilderton and Matt Hatfield, who both scored 17 points. But Williamstown rallied with strong plays from Isaly and Schramm. Logan almost clinched the game in regulation, but Ilderton’s floater missed the mark.
In overtime, Bryant opened the scoring with a putback that secured the Yellowjackets’ lead. “Those are the fun ones,” said Bryant, pleased with their achievement, especially since it marked a perfect home record this season.

“We knew it would be a physical game,” Bryant noted about the rivalry, adding that the excitement was palpable on both sides.
Logan’s Ivan Miller had a standout performance, not only scoring 14 points but also pulling down 14 rebounds. Despite their efforts on the boards, Logan lost the turnover battle with 10 compared to Williamstown’s six. The Yellowjackets shot well from the free-throw line, hitting 19 of 24 attempts.
Logan’s coach Mark Hatcher remarked about the respect he has for Williamstown, saying, “To compete with them on the road is tough, but that’s Logan basketball.”

As the playoffs approach, both teams look to maintain their strong performances as they head into crucial matches ahead.
