This weekend, there are plenty of exciting new shows and movies to check out. Whether you’re in the mood for thrilling adventures or feel-good stories, the streaming platforms are serving up something for everyone.
Don’t forget to enjoy the nice weather, too! When you’re ready to unwind indoors, here are some of the highlights to keep an eye on.
What’s New This Weekend?
Alien: Earth (Hulu)
The first two episodes of Alien: Earth just launched on Hulu. This visually stunning series captures the essence of the original Alien films. There’s great acting, especially from Timothy Olyphant as a cyborg. However, expanding on the lore has its downsides. It sometimes pulls me out of the gripping atmosphere that made the original films so compelling. I’m looking forward to sharing a more detailed review soon.
Outlander: Blood Of My Blood (Starz)
Outlander: Blood Of My Blood is a prequel that brings back familiar themes and characters. While it’s entertaining and well-made, some storylines feel recycled, mirroring struggles we’ve seen in the main series. It raises questions about how these backstories might affect our view of the primary characters. At least we get more beautiful Scottish scenery!
Night Always Comes (Netflix)
Vanessa Kirby’s latest thriller on Netflix has her racing against time to secure her family home. Critics have mixed feelings about its heavy-handed messages, but it’s sparked enough interest to be worth a watch.
Limitless: Live Better Now (Disney+)
In this series, Chris Hemsworth dives into wellness and longevity. With a focus on self-care, it raises interesting conversations about what it means to live better. Personally, I’m tempted by the idea of switching to a synthetic super-body instead of sticking to a healthy diet!
Butterfly — Season 1 (Prime Video)
Daniel Dae Kim stars in this gripping South Korean spy thriller based on a graphic novel. It’s all about intrigue and action as he finds himself in dangerous situations in Korea.
This weekend, there are also theatrical releases worth noting. Films like Highest 2 Lowest feature remarkable talent, like Denzel Washington, in a gripping plot about high-stakes ransom. And if you loved the first Nobody movie, the sequel promises even more action and humor. Just be ready for some wild fight scenes!
There’s always something new to explore, so make sure to check out these shows and films this weekend!
