George Washington University Rowing Team Secures Impressive Second Place at Atlantic 10 Championships

Pennsauken, N.J. – George Washington University’s rowing team aimed for its second conference title but finished in a close second at the regatta on the Cooper River. Rhode Island secured its fourth Atlantic 10 title in five years with 52 points, while GW ended the day with 48 points.

The competition began with the V4 race. GW took silver with a finish of 08:02.171, while UMass won gold at 07:45.689. Rhode Island came in third with 08:08.436.

Next up was the 2V8 race. GW again earned the silver medal, finishing with a time of 06:49.073, just behind Rhode Island (06:46.273) and ahead of UMass (06:52.859). This kept the competition tight as they approached the final race.

In the championship-deciding V8 race, GW put in a strong effort but ended with a time of 06:43.853, again falling short of Rhode Island, which won with 06:40.695. Saint Joseph’s came in third in this race.

Highlighting individual accomplishments, GW’s Mary Grace Konopka and Benni Bonino were named to the All-Conference First Team. Anna Golbus and Lily Sarnowski made the All-A-10 Second Team. Additionally, the A-10 recognized the senior class during the post-race ceremony for their contributions.
