Idaho’s Swimming and Diving Team Shines in Academic Excellence
Moscow, Idaho – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently announced its list of Scholar All-America teams for Spring 2025. This recognition highlights 763 teams from 432 schools across various NCAA divisions and NAIA, totaling 18,459 student-athletes who excelled in academics.
For the eighth straight semester, the Idaho swimming and diving team made the Scholar All-America list. To qualify, teams must achieve an average GPA of at least 3.0. The Vandals surpassed this mark with an impressive 3.62 GPA, ranking among the top in Division I schools with 35 or more athletes.
Notably, institutions like Florida State, Auburn, and Ohio State also earned spots on the list. However, Idaho outperformed several of these renowned programs concerning team GPA.
According to a survey by Niche, student-athletes often report that academics can be just as challenging as their sports. This balance is crucial for their success in both arenas. Coaches emphasize the importance of maintaining good grades, noting that it can open doors for scholarships and future opportunities.
This achievement reflects a growing trend in college athletics where student success is held in high regard. Academic performance among athletes is increasingly acknowledged, reinforcing the notion that sports and academics can go hand-in-hand.
