USA Baseball recently announced the 2025 Collegiate National Team roster, ready to face Japan in an exciting series from July 8-13. This event marks the 45th USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Series and will take place across multiple venues in Japan, including Es Con Field in Hokkaido and Jingu Stadium in Tokyo.
Team USA has a rich history in this rivalry, leading the series against Japan 24-20. The team’s General Manager, Eric Campbell, expressed confidence in the players selected, highlighting their talent and experience.
This year’s roster includes 10 players with previous USA Baseball experience, such as Eric Becker from Virginia and Drew Burress from Georgia Tech. Burress, notably, will represent the national team for the third time. Other returning players include Ryan McPherson from Mississippi State, making his second appearance.
Arkansas stands out with three players on the team, the highest from any school, while other institutions, including Georgia Tech and Louisville, have two representatives each. In total, the roster features players from 16 different schools.
The series itself is steeped in tradition. The first USA vs. Japan Collegiate Series started back in 1972 and has grown into a respected competition. This is the first time Team USA has traveled to Japan since 2019, making the excitement around the event even more palpable.
Managed by Andy Stankiewicz, the coaching staff includes experienced names like Rusty Filter and Omar Johnson. Together, they aim to bring home victory and celebrate sportsmanship on an international stage.
Additionally, 30 players from the training camp will form a prospects team to play against the Appalachian League Select Team on July 4, showcasing the depth of talent within the USA Baseball community. This game allows emerging talent to gain exposure and experience ahead of the main series.
