Team USA finished the final preliminaries with all four top seeds, leading the medal count with an impressive 37 medals, including 20 golds. Women’s 400 Freestyle

Cavan Gormsen from Virginia is aiming to add the 400 freestyle title to her gold in the 200 freestyle. She finished her morning swim with a time of 4:12.30. Her teammate, Michaela Mattes from the University of Florida, came in close behind at 4:12.39. Canadian swimmer Julie Brousseau was right there too, clocking in at 4:12.42.

Men’s 400 Individual Medley

Over in the men’s 400 IM, Mason Laur from Florida secured the top seed with a time of 4:17.64. He edged out Japan’s Takumi Mori, who finished at 4:17.71, while fellow countryman Riku Yamaguchi followed closely behind at 4:17.89. American swimmer Baylor Nelson from Texas is also in the mix, finishing with a time of 4:20.26.

Women’s 400 Medley Relay

The U.S. women’s 400 medley relay team will take Lane Four in the finals, thanks to a solid preliminary performance. The team, made up of Teagan O’Dell, Leah Hayes, Ella Welch, and Isabel Ivey, finished with a time of 4:03.00. That’s over three seconds quicker than Italy, who came in at 4:06.22.

Men’s 400 Medley Relay

On the men’s side, the U.S. team also took the top spot in the 400 medley relay. The quartet of Owen McDonald, Nate Germonprez, Matt Klinge, and Mitchell Schott racked up a time of 3:34.42, beating Germany by more than three seconds, as Germonprez posted an impressive 59.66 on his breaststroke leg.
