The Purdue United Way campaign for 2025 has kicked off, aiming to raise $700,000 by November 5. This money will support local groups that make a difference in Greater Lafayette.
Jim Bullard, the Dean of the Mitch Daniels School of Business, is leading this year’s effort. With past experience as a board chair for United Way U.S.A., he understands the impact of community support. Purdue’s connection to the United Way dates back to the early 1980s, thanks to President Steven Beering and Charles Wise. Their efforts helped establish one of the largest United Way campaigns on college campuses. Last year’s campaign exceeded its goal, raising $731,000 to assist local families.
The theme for this year is “Local Giving. Lasting Impact.” This emphasizes that every dollar raised will stay right here in Greater Lafayette. The funds will go to 24 local human service agencies. These agencies provide essential services like food, housing, mental health support, and adult literacy programs. They help families not just in crises but also enable them to build a stable future.
To encourage participation, there’s an incentive drawing for faculty and staff. Those who donate or select “I Don’t Wish To Give” will be entered to win gift cards and a round of golf at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
Donations can be made online through the ePledge system, allowing faculty and staff to choose between unrestricted gifts to United Way or specific partner agencies. Contributions can be done as a one-time donation or through payroll deduction.
With the expansion of Purdue University into Indianapolis, the partnership with United Way continues to evolve. No matter where you are, your contribution supports your community.
