The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) recently teamed up with the Ministry of External Affairs to launch the first global Viksit Bharat Run 2025. This exciting event took place across over 100 countries and aimed to foster a spirit of community service during the Seva Pakhwada celebration.
Participants enjoyed 3-5 km runs in scenic locations worldwide, with notable turnouts in cities like Bangkok, Beijing, and Melbourne. This initiative brought together Indian expatriates, students, and local friends, all united under the theme “Run to Serve the Nation.”
Vikram Doraiswami, India’s High Commissioner to the UK, emphasized the event’s purpose: to celebrate community spirit and showcase the valuable contributions of Indians around the globe. He stated that the goal was to illustrate the collective effort of the Indian diaspora in supporting both India and the nations they call home.
One participant from the UK expressed enthusiasm for the event, pointing out how it inspired people to engage and participate in future events. Alongside the run, participants took the Viksit Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Bharat Pledges, further illustrating their commitment to India’s growth and sustainability efforts. The event also included an “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” tree planting drive, linking environmental care to community service.
This global effort included collaboration between Indian Missions and local authorities, making sure that everyone could join in. It highlighted the impact of Indian communities worldwide and their dedication to social causes.
According to a recent survey, around 70% of participants reported feeling a stronger connection to both their Indian heritage and their local community after participating in similar events. This underscores the importance of engaging diaspora communities in nation-building.
By participating in initiatives like the Viksit Bharat Run, individuals not only contribute to India’s vision for 2047 but also strengthen the bonds within their local communities. As we move forward, such events remind us of the power of collective action and the spirit of service.
