Fallout Day 2025 has wrapped up, and it didn’t quite deliver what fans were hoping for. While there’s a new version of Fallout 4, a Fallout: New Vegas bundle, and updates for Fallout Shelter and Fallout 76, there were no announcements about remasters or a new Fallout 5.
Bethesda’s design chief, Todd Howard, acknowledged that some fans might feel let down. He reassured everyone that the team is working on more Fallout content. No specifics were given, but he expressed enthusiasm for sharing future updates.
During the lead-up to Fallout Day, actor Danny Trejo, known for his role in Fallout: New Vegas, urged Bethesda to consider a remaster of his game. This desire is echoed by many fans, especially with rising interest thanks to the upcoming season of the Fallout TV show, which goes to New Vegas.
Rumors about Fallout remakes have been circulating, especially since The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been remastered. There were hints in 2023 about a Fallout 3 remaster, but plans may have shifted since then. Bethesda is also looking at Fallout 5, although that’s on hold until after The Elder Scrolls 6 is completed.
In June 2024, Howard mentioned in an interview that he wants to avoid rushing new games. He emphasized the significance of taking time to get everything right, hoping to create meaningful experiences for fans.
The last main Fallout game, Fallout 4, hit the shelves in 2015, followed by Fallout 76 in 2018. While 76 had a rocky start, the Fallout TV series has boosted the franchise’s popularity, capturing a wider audience.
But even with the excitement surrounding Fallout, Howard remains focused on quality over quantity. He understands the demand for new single-player games but believes that good things take time.
In the world of gaming, patience is key. Fans may have to wait a bit longer, but the anticipation for what’s next in the Fallout universe only seems to grow.
