HSL Shines at IITF-2025
Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) received great attention at the 44th India International Trade Fair in New Delhi. This event, running from November 14 to November 27, showcases India’s industries. HSL, which operates under the Ministry of Defence, plays a vital role among India’s Defence Public Sector Undertakings. Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth visited the HSL stall in the Defence Production Pavilion, highlighting its importance in national security.
Several dignitaries, including Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, also stopped by. Cmde Girideep Singh, the Managing Director of HSL, shared insights about the shipyard’s contributions to India’s maritime capabilities. He emphasized HSL’s expertise in submarine refits, advanced shipbuilding, and eco-friendly propulsion systems.
Another exciting development is HSL’s agreement with the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board. This partnership aims to create a new shipyard, boosting India’s shipbuilding capacity.
Showcasing Indian Innovation
At the fair, HSL displayed a variety of indigenous designs. These included fleet support ships, diving support vessels, and offshore patrol vessels. This diverse lineup demonstrates HSL’s engineering prowess and capability to tackle complex ship construction and upgrades.
In recent news, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) secured ₹792 crore in new contracts from the Defence Ministry, indicating a strong market interest in defence technology.
Sustainable Shipbuilding Initiatives
Looking ahead, HSL plans to establish a greenfield shipyard in Andhra Pradesh. This facility is set to produce advanced ships, including platform supply vessels and landing platform docks. Collaborating with global technology partners, these initiatives align with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, aimed at fostering self-sufficiency in maritime capabilities.
