Exciting New Food Truck Opportunities Coming to Duluth City Parks in 2026!

A new pilot program is set to launch for mobile food vendors in the Twin Ports area. The Duluth Economic Development Authority (DEDA) is offering these vendors the chance to get a free commercial operator’s permit for this summer. Normally, these permits cost $300, making this a great opportunity for local food entrepreneurs.

The initiative aims to help vendors increase their visibility and connect with the community while operating in Duluth’s parks. Up to six food trucks or other mobile vendors will be awarded these free permits, which will be valid from May through October 2026.

To qualify, vendors need to register with the City Clerk’s Office and either be a resident of Duluth or have a physical business in the area. Permits will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

According to a recent report from the National Association of Food Trucks, mobile food businesses have grown significantly over the past decade. They now represent a major part of the food industry, contributing over $1 billion in revenue each year. This highlights the importance of initiatives like DEDA’s program in supporting local entrepreneurs and enhancing community engagement.

Responses from local social media pages indicate excitement about the program. Many residents are eager to see more food options at parks, fostering a vibrant food culture while enjoying the outdoors.
