Ski Vermont’s Specialty Food Day Tour is back for the 2026 season! This popular event features 17 stops at ski areas across the state, showcasing local food and drinks from January 23 to March 22.
The tour kicks off at Jay Peak on January 23, aligning with the resort’s Farmers Appreciation Day. This year, new locations include Stowe, Middlebury Snowbowl, and Bolton Valley, expanding the program further into Vermont.
Molly Mahar, President of Ski Vermont, emphasizes the connection between skiing and local food. She says, “These events bring Vermont makers directly to ski areas, allowing guests to explore our local food scene while enjoying winter sports.”
Visitors can sample a variety of local products, from cheese to maple syrup. Vendors like Cabot Cheese and St. Johnsbury Distillery will be present, offering tastes of their specialty goods.
A unique highlight this season is the specialty cocktail “One Last Rum.” Made in collaboration with St. Johnsbury Distillery, it will be available at all tour stops. Kickoff tasting will be at Burke Mountain on January 24, with an après-ski feature at Jay Peak.
Specialty Food Days will also include other fun activities, such as an event at Stowe Mountain Resort as part of their Winter Glow series.
Overall, it’s a fantastic opportunity for skiers to enjoy Vermont’s delicious offerings while hitting the slopes. For a complete list of dates and participating vendors, visit Ski Vermont’s official page.
With the rise of food tourism across the U.S., events like this not only promote local businesses but also enhance the skiing experience. According to a recent survey by the National Ski Areas Association, many ski resorts are increasingly focusing on integrating local culture and culinary arts into their offerings, showing that the bond between winter sports and local food is stronger than ever.
Whether you ski or simply enjoy good food, this tour promises a taste of Vermont’s rich heritage.
