The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has launched a second raffle for a special Commissioner License, part of the Wyoming Hunger Initiative headed by First Lady Jennie Gordon. This fundraising effort supports the Food From the Field program.
You can grab one of the 300 tickets online until March 20. The winner will get a rare chance to buy a deer, antelope, or elk tag for hunting anywhere in Wyoming, using any legal weapon.
Food From the Field is a great way to help the community. Through this program, hunters can donate some or all of their harvest. Local food processors then package this meat for distribution to food banks. Each animal is tested for safety before it’s donated.
The Wyoming Hunger Initiative works to fight food insecurity across the state, raising awareness and supporting local organizations. For more details, you can check out the Wyoming Hunger Initiative website.
Every year, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department offers these licenses to charitable organizations for fundraising purposes. You can find more information about the program on the Game and Fish website.
According to recent surveys, food insecurity is a growing concern in many states. A report from Feeding America shows that 1 in 10 people in Wyoming face hunger. This initiative and others like it aim to bridge that gap significantly.
Community support is essential in these efforts. Social media buzz around initiatives like the Wyoming Hunger Initiative highlights how local engagement can lead to real change. By participating in events like the raffle, individuals contribute not only to their enjoyment of outdoor activities but also to addressing a critical social issue.
