Colorado’s track and field team recently showcased incredible talent at three meets in California. Among the highlights was Avery Pearson’s standout performance in the women’s 800 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

Pearson finished with a remarkable time of 2:00.91, earning her the No. 2 spot in Colorado’s history and placing her fifth in the NCAA rankings this season. This impressive achievement boosts not only her confidence but also adds to the legacy of Colorado’s track program.

On Thursday, Dean Casey kicked things off strong by running the men’s 10,000 meters. He clocked in at 28:17.16, which is a personal best and ranks him sixth all-time at Colorado.

Friday brought more excitement. Riley Burkey opened the day in the women’s 800 meters, hitting a personal best of 2:09.42, breaking the 2:10 barrier for the first time.

In the distance events, James Overberg shone with a personal best of 13:32.53 in the men’s 5000 meters, moving up to No. 10 in Colorado’s record books. Jessie Secor also excelled, achieving a personal best of 15:30.66 in the women’s 5000 meters, improving her standing to ninth all-time in the program.

Freshman Holly Barker impressed everyone by breaking the 16-minute mark for the first time, finishing with a time of 15:55.42 and placing third in her heat. On the men’s side, Keegan Smith completed the 5000 meters in 13:58.75, marking his first sub-14-minute performance.

In the field events, Lucas Williams made waves in the men’s hammer throw. He set a personal best with a throw of 61.65 meters (202-3), moving him to fifth all-time at Colorado.
