The Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) is gearing up for its 2026 Climate & Energy Conference, bringing together community leaders and innovators. Scheduled for May 7 and 8 at the Lake Placid Conference Center, this two-day event will focus on climate and energy strategies that resonate with local values.
As part of the conference, attendees can expect a range of activities, including tours, discussions, and presentations centered on pressing regional issues. Jill Henck, ANCA’s climate and energy program director, and Elizabeth Cooper, the executive director, will be available to answer questions throughout the event.
The conference will kick off Thursday at noon with a tour using an electric school bus provided by NY Bus Sales. Key stops include Atlas Hoofed It Farm in Vermontville and the Town of Franklin municipal building. The day will conclude with a welcome reception at the Mt. Pisgah Recreation Center in Saranac Lake.
Friday’s agenda is packed with sessions that will dive deep into topics like nuclear energy, energy storage, climate adaptation, sustainable infrastructure, and creating healthy homes. The goal is to foster action and collaboration among participants.
According to a recent report by the International Energy Agency, renewable energy sources are projected to account for nearly 95% of the increase in global power generation over the next five years. This highlights the importance of discussions like those at the ANCA conference, where local strategies can align with broader trends in clean energy adoption.
Participating in this conference provides a great opportunity to engage with like-minded individuals and learn about innovative solutions that could benefit the community and environment alike.
