Embraer, the Brazilian aerospace company, has teamed up with Bharat Forge from India to supply forged materials. This partnership, announced on May 11, marks a crucial step as Embraer works to diversify its supplier base.
Bharat Forge, based in Pune, serves various sectors, including aerospace and defense. Their expertise makes them a valuable addition to Embraer’s supply chain, especially as the company aims to reduce reliance on a limited number of suppliers.
Roberto Chaves, Embraer’s executive vice president of global procurement, emphasized that India presents significant growth opportunities in commercial aviation. As the country expands its aerospace sector, Embraer’s presence could become a game changer.
Earlier this year, Embraer signed a memo of understanding with India’s Adani Group to explore establishing a final assembly line for the E175 regional jets in India. For this project to move forward, Embraer expects to secure orders for at least 200 jets from Indian customers by the end of 2026. If successful, production could start as early as 2028.
India’s aviation market is booming. Recent data shows that the country is projected to need hundreds of new aircraft in the coming decades. Despite this growth, Embraer has yet to land a significant order from local airlines, making this collaboration even more critical for their future in India.
