Celebrating Excellence: Join Us at the 73rd Annual Staff and Faculty Awards Ceremony Honoring Tuskegee’s Renaissance Champions!

Recently, over 150 employees at Tuskegee University were honored for their commitment to the community. This annual celebration, supported by various university offices, showcased awards for faculty performance, staff excellence, and long service milestones, recognizing dedication ranging from 10 to 60 years.

Dr. Mark A. Brown, the university president and CEO, addressed the attendees, reflecting on conversations with students’ families during graduation season. He highlighted how their hard work translates into success for graduates. “This time of year feels like report card season for us,” he said. “You are the reason parents leave happy—you fulfill Tuskegee’s promise to students.”

A moving tribute was paid to Cassandra Tarver-Ross, the former Chief Human Resources Officer, who recently passed away. Her mother and sister received a beautiful stained glass piece from the original chapel, a touching reminder of her impact on the university. Derrick Jordan, the Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer, remembered her as a leader who inspired rather than just managed. “Even while fighting her illness, she never stopped fighting for Tuskegee,” he remarked.

During the event, Jordan emphasized the vital role faculty and staff play in creating a thriving university environment. He said, “You are not just the heart of Tuskegee; you are its future. Your late-night emails, mentoring, and dedication keep our mission alive.”

Recognizing the importance of community, it’s worth noting that Tuskegee University has been a prominent institution for over 140 years. Founded in 1881, it remains dedicated to empowering underrepresented students and promoting economic mobility. Studies show that graduates from similar institutions often experience a higher earning potential, making their efforts all the more meaningful.

This year’s celebration was not just about recognition; it was a reminder of the impact that dedication can have on generations. With each honored employee, Tuskegee University reflects its commitment to education, service, and community.
