Wonder, a popular chain of modern food halls, is gearing up to open new locations in central and Southeast Texas. Recently filed permits indicate that three spots are planned: two in Greater Houston and one in Austin.

In Austin, Wonder is set to take over a space at 500 West Canyon Ridge Drive. This location will undergo a $1 million renovation, transforming a 3,728-square-foot area. The construction will start on July 14 and aims for completion by September 22.

In Greater Houston, the plans are equally exciting. One location is coming to Spring at 6625 Spring Stuebner Road, another 3,160-square-foot site, with signs of significant renovation and modifications. Work is scheduled to commence on September 7, with a projected finish date of November 11.

Meanwhile, the Houston area will also be home to a Wonder venue at 107 Yale Street. This 3,628-square-foot property will see renovations starting on August 24, targeting a completion by November 2.

All three projects are managed by MG2, a well-known architecture firm with a broad reach across the country. However, completion dates might differ from actual opening days.

Wonder isn’t just stopping in Houston and Austin. They have ambitions for several locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and even hinted at plans for San Antonio in a recent press release. CEO Tony Hoggett expressed excitement about introducing Texans to their unique food concept, which blends chef-driven menus with the convenience of food delivery.

So, what makes Wonder special? It’s like a mix of a food hall and a ghost kitchen. Customers can order from various restaurant brands, and their meals arrive together—no worrying about coordinating multiple deliveries. This model caters to diverse tastes, covering everything from ramen to tacos all in one order.

Many offerings come from well-known chefs, including Bobby Flay and Marcus Samuelsson. Wonder also gives space to local favorites, like Tejas Chocolate + Barbecue in Tomball, ensuring a mix of both regional and national flavors.

Recent statistics show food delivery services are seeing a steady rise. In 2022, the food delivery market was valued at around $150 billion, with projections hinting at continued growth. This suggests that Wonder’s approach is not just trendy but aligns with broader consumer habits.
