The College Sports Communicators (CSC) recently announced the 2026 Academic All-District Baseball Team, celebrating standout student-athletes for their achievements both in sports and academics. This team includes players from NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, and NAIA.
Two players stood out: Andres Balart and Kyle Keyes. Keyes is also in the running for the CSC All-American selection.
Andres Balart, a sophomore outfielder from Miami, Florida, has been impressive. He carries a 3.60 GPA while majoring in Accounting. So far, he’s played 41 games this season, hitting .261 with 29 hits and impressive stats of 30 walks and 10 stolen bases. He was also named to the Sun Conference All-Academic team.
In contrast, Kyle Keyes, a senior right-handed pitcher from Sandy, Utah, boasts an even higher GPA of 3.93 in Interdisciplinary Studies. He’s had a strong season, starting 13 of 14 games, with a record of 6-2 and 38 strikeouts over 69.1 innings. Like Balart, he is a Sun Conference All-Academic honoree and received a Second-Team All-Conference selection.
These athletes highlight a growing trend in college sports where academic success is just as important as athletic performance. A recent survey showed that over 70% of student-athletes believe their fieldwork and internships benefit their academic experience. This balance prepares them for future careers, making them valuable assets both on and off the field.
