Buffs Celebrate 23rd NCAA Tournament Spot: West Texas A&M University Athletics Shines Bright!

INDIANAPOLIS – West Texas A&M men’s basketball has made it to the 2025 NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Tournament! They received an at-large bid and will compete as the No. 7 seed in the South Central regional tournament, hosted by DBU in Dallas.

In the first round, DBU, who won both the Lone Star Conference regular season and the tournament, will face eighth-seeded Regis. The tournament favorites include the Colorado School of Mines, the No. 2 seed, who will go up against West Texas A&M. Other matchups include No. 3 Lubbock Christian vs. No. 6 St. Mary’s, and No. 4 Midwestern State vs. No. 5 St. Edward’s.

Fans can look forward to an exciting weekend with the quarterfinals on Saturday, March 15, and semifinals on Sunday, March 16. The regional championship game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 18.

This championship features 64 teams, with eight qualifying from each region. Out of these, 23 teams earned automatic spots, while 41 were selected based on their performance. After the regional rounds, the advancing teams will head to the Men’s Elite Eight at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.
