In the week leading up to a deadly Iranian drone strike, U.S. intelligence likely tracked troop movements in Iraq and Kuwait. This strike tragically killed six American service members. An internal memo from U.S. Army Central revealed that Iranian-aligned militia groups used various methods to monitor U.S. forces.
Before the strike, small drones were spotted near Kuwait’s Shuaiba port, raising suspicions of reconnaissance. Just a day after the attack, U.S. forces recovered GPS transponders, but their purpose remains unclear.
At a recent Pentagon briefing, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth emphasized the importance of troop safety before launching major operations. Hegseth noted that despite having air defenses, it’s not uncommon for some threats to slip through. The six service members killed were part of the 103rd Sustainment Command.
