LOS ANGELES — Barry Manilow has announced that he is rescheduling his January concerts due to health concerns. The beloved 82-year-old singer shared on social media that he has been diagnosed with lung cancer.
In his heartfelt message, Manilow explained, “I recently battled bronchitis for over a month, and my doctor ordered an MRI just to be safe. The scan revealed a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs surgery.” He emphasized that early detection was crucial and credited his doctor for catching it in time.
Manilow plans to have surgery in late December after finishing his “Christmas: A Gift of Love” concerts. Doctors have assured him that the cancer has not spread and that he will not need chemotherapy or radiation. “Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns,” he humorously added.
He expressed his regret about changing the January concert schedule and reassured fans that he too was looking forward to those shows. The new concert dates will be moved to February through April.
