Controversial Comedian from Trump Rally Gains Netflix Special After Making Racist Jokes About Puerto Rico

Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe has struck a deal with Netflix just months after facing criticism for making offensive jokes at a rally for President Donald Trump at Madison Square Garden.

Netflix announced on Monday that Hinchcliffe’s podcast, “Kill Tony,” will be transformed into three exclusive comedy specials. The first is set to premiere on April 7.

At the Trump rally, Hinchcliffe made several remarks that targeted various communities, including Latinos, Black individuals, and Jewish people. He notably asked the audience, “Where are my proud Latinos at tonight?” and then made a controversial comment suggesting that the border was “wide open.”

He also referred to Puerto Rico in a derogatory way and made insinuations about Black people and Jewish people that many found offensive. His comments included a reference to Haitian immigrants, which echoed unsubstantiated claims made by Trump.

After the rally, Hinchcliffe received backlash from several public figures, including music artists like Nicky Jam and Bad Bunny, and actress Aubrey Plaza. Even Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and former vice presidential nominee Tim Walz criticized him.

Rather than apologize, Hinchcliffe defended his remarks during a later podcast episode, stating, “I apologize to absolutely nobody.” He acknowledged that the venue was not ideal but maintained that his style of comedy would not change.

This reaction from Hinchcliffe continues to spark discussions about the boundaries of comedy and the responsibilities of comedians in their performances. As his Netflix specials approach, many are curious to see how he will navigate these themes on a larger platform.
