Korean food company Pulmuone recently showcased its offerings at the Natural Products Expo West 2026 in Anaheim, California, from March 4-6. Known for its tofu, Pulmuone presented traditional Korean dishes alongside its latest plant-based creations.
Since 2003, Pulmuone has highlighted Korean cuisine at this event, offering items like tofu, plant-based meats, dumplings, and fried rice. This year, the spotlight was on tofu and kimchi, both of which align with the U.S. government’s updated dietary guidelines.
Celebrity chef Edward Lee, a long-time collaborator with Pulmuone, made an appearance. He engaged with attendees through a signing session and shared creative recipes featuring the company’s products, like “Kimchi bibim soy milk noodles” and “Kimchi tofu shakshouka.”
Pulmuone also teased new products for later this year, including gluten-free soy milk noodles that are low in calories and high in fiber, requiring no cooking. Other upcoming releases include “Yakisoba,” a new entry in their line of Asian noodles, and plant-based “Garlic and Herb Wraps” geared for quick meals.
There’s a notable trend in the U.S. — demand for plant-based protein continues to rise as more people seek healthier and sustainable eating options. In fact, recent studies reveal that 43% of Americans are looking to incorporate more plant-based foods into their diets. Pulmuone’s tofu sales reflect this shift, growing by 12.2% last year, with a record revenue of 224 billion won (about $150 million).
To meet increasing demand, Pulmuone plans to expand production at its facility in Ayer, Massachusetts, adding new tofu manufacturing lines. “We’re committed to promoting healthy Korean diets globally by blending fresh ingredients with traditional culture,” said Kim Suk-won, head of global marketing at Pulmuone USA.
This focus on health and sustainability is not just a trend; it’s a response to changing consumer preferences. As people become more health-conscious, brands like Pulmuone are stepping up to meet those needs with innovative, well-crafted products.
