If you’re tired of squinting at your phone screen for movie night, check this out: Aurzen has a cool trifold mini projector that fits right in your pocket or bag. I saw it at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and it convinced me that a tiny projector could enhance my movie-watching experience, whether I’m at home or on the go.
The Zip Projector is a compact, square device, about 1 inch thick and 3 inches wide and tall. Think of it as a chunkier version of the Galaxy Z Flip 6. When you unfold it, you can project content at a good angle—the design lets it stand on its own. It feels lightweight, similar to an iPhone 16 Pro Max, which made me think I could toss it in my bag without a second thought.

The Zip can project movies, photos, and social media content up to 80 inches in size. You can mirror your phone’s screen or connect a handy HDMI dongle to stream from other devices like TVs or gaming consoles. It works with iOS, Android, Windows, and MacOS. While the resolution maxes out at 720p now, Aurzen plans to upgrade it to 1080p later. The colors looked pretty vibrant during a demo, but a resolution boost would definitely be a nice touch. It has a brightness of 100 ANSI lumens and comes with two 1-watt speakers.
However, the battery life is a bit of a downside—only 1.5 hours per charge, so your movie choice should be short unless you can plug it in. It takes about 90 minutes to fully charge its 5,000-mAh battery with a 25-watt charger.
As for streaming, right now, you can only mirror content from Netflix, but Aurzen plans to add more apps soon. For projecting anything else, you’ll need that HDMI dongle, which costs an extra $100.

Final thoughts on the Aurzen Zip projector
Folded down, the Zip Projector is about half the height of an iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Portable projectors aren’t exactly new, but the foldable design makes this one stand out. Many products are moving toward compact, portable formats, adding an element of fun and convenience.
The Zip Projector is currently available for preorder on Kickstarter, with plans to ship soon. The starting price is $300, with options like a $130 magnetic charging stand to extend battery life or a $40 magnetic mount to elevate your projector.
While marketed as a travel-friendly gadget, I can see the Zip being a great alternative to expensive projectors or TVs at home. It’s also perfect for outdoor movie nights or quick presentations anywhere you go.
Personally, I’m picturing some epic Harry Potter movie marathons, all thanks to this pocket-friendly device!
