Not all fast food places are the same. A recent report by Intouch Insight highlights some surprising findings about these popular spots.

Chick-fil-A and McDonald’s tied for the top in order accuracy, each getting it right around 92% of the time. On the other hand, KFC lagged behind, achieving only 81% accuracy in order fulfillment. This gap shows how crucial it is for chains to focus on getting orders right.

The report also found that when customers had a chance to confirm their orders with a clear and friendly employee, accuracy improved. It seems that good communication really makes a difference.

When it came to food quality, Chick-fil-A and Raising Canes were the best. Chick-fil-A also scored high in customer satisfaction and friendliness. Meanwhile, Taco Bell won for the fastest service in both total and drive-through times.

On average, drive-through customers waited about five minutes and 29 seconds for their food—14 seconds quicker than in 2023. Interestingly, if you walk into the restaurant instead of going through the drive-thru, you might end up waiting even longer—around seven minutes and two seconds.

Tech in ordering is also changing the game. With Voice-AI, mobile apps, or kiosks, diners saved an average of 12 seconds on their orders. Friendly service from a human could make the process even quicker by saving 28 seconds compared to using self-service options.

Recent trends on social media reflect that many customers appreciate the speed and accuracy of drive-through options. In a survey conducted by the National Restaurant Association, 80% of diners said they prefer to use drive-throughs for their convenience.

As the fast food landscape evolves, it’s clear that accuracy and customer service play a big role in satisfaction. Focusing on these areas doesn’t just improve the dining experience—it could also boost business.
