Exciting News: Foster Food Carts Make a Comeback After Two-Year Hiatus!

The Foster Food Carts are back, reopening after a nearly two-year hiatus. This lively spot, now under new ownership by Nik Badwaik, has undergone a complete transformation.

Previously known as Carts on Foster, the food pod operated for about 12 years in a building that was nearly a century old. Due to code violations, the old structure was demolished to make way for a fresh start. Now, visitors will find two large, heated seating areas and a stage for live events like comedy and music.

The new food pod features a diverse range of options, including:

  • Juanita’s Mexican Food
  • Osaka Ramen
  • Indian Palace
  • Foodie Mumbhaiya
  • GG’s Sushi & Teriyaki
  • Gyro Land
  • The Egg Carton
  • Belle Époque Pies
  • El Salto Venezuelan Comfort Food
  • Birrieria La Plaza
  • Thirsty Pours
  • Foster Fish & Chips

While a soft launch happened in March, the grand reopening party is set for Saturday, May 17, from 2-9 PM. There will be activities for kids, live music, free food samples, a tattoo artist, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Portland City Councilor Angelita Morillo.

Food pods like these have become popular community hubs, blending dining with entertainment. According to a 2022 survey by the Portland Food Scene, more than 65% of locals enjoy visiting food carts for their variety and affordable prices.

Previously, the Carts on Foster earned praise in local media for its unique setting. One highlight was the ability to enjoy a meal, drink a beer, and even get a haircut in a retro camper—all in one afternoon.

Foster Food Carts is located at 5205 SE Foster Road and operates daily from 9 AM to 9 PM. You can keep up with them on Instagram.
