The Heck’s Market Food Pantry on campus is getting a major update! Josh Myers, the executive director of The Foundation, shared some exciting news at a recent board meeting.
The food pantry is moving from the cafeteria in the S Building to the Student Success Center. This change brings a new way of shopping—online! Instead of browsing in person, students will soon be able to select their items through an online link.
Once students pick what they need and add it to their cart, they can choose a time to pick up their groceries. When they arrive, they just pull up in front of Founders Hall. Staff will come out to deliver the items right to their car.
Myers emphasized that this online shopping system aims to provide convenience and privacy for students. It also improves accessibility, especially since there isn’t always a dedicated staff member at the market.
Although the market is moving, the space in the S Building will still be used for storage, taking advantage of the cooler available there for certain items.
Myers expressed his enthusiasm for the new system and thanked the student success team for their support. He mentioned, “I cannot speak highly enough about our student success team.”
Mark your calendars! There will be a grand reopening of the Heck’s Market Food Pantry on February 20 at 2 p.m. in the Student Success Center. It’s an exciting step forward for everyone involved!
