CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – First-year players Mick Thompson and Ben Charette have earned spots on the ECAC All-Rookie Team, as announced today.
Thompson has had a standout season. He led all rookies in the ECAC with 8 goals and 13 assists, totaling 21 points in 22 games. His performance places him third for points among all Crimson players over the last 23 years. Only Adam Fox and Nick Abruzzese have more points during this span.
Thompson made a strong start by scoring his first collegiate goal against Princeton, clinching the game in overtime. This was just the beginning, as he recorded eight multi-point games this season. In one incredible conference weekend, he tallied four points—two against Princeton and another two against Quinnipiac. He also excelled in his last six conference games, notching three games where he scored three points each.
Charette also had an impressive season as a goaltender. He topped all ECAC goalies with at least ten games played, boasting a .926 save percentage. He recorded his first career shutout with 31 saves against St. Lawrence in December, averaging 28 saves per game. Charette finished the season with a 2.25 goals-against average and three wins, becoming the first Crimson goalie to make the All-Rookie Team since Mitchell Gibson in 2019-20.
In January, Charette was named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List. He made his collegiate debut in a non-conference match against Notre Dame, followed by six consecutive starts for the Crimson.
Now, the Crimson will face Clarkson in a best-of-three quarterfinal series starting Friday.
