Kean University Baseball Dominates North Carolina Wesleyan in Impressive Sweep

Rocky Mount, N.C. (March 9, 2025) – The Kean University baseball team wrapped up their series against North Carolina Wesleyan with a tight win, finishing 4-3.

How It Happened:

Cal Chase got things rolling for the Cougars with a sacrifice fly in the first inning.

In the third inning, CJ Tomalavage hit a double, driving in two runs, and later scored on a balk, stretching Kean’s lead to 4-0.

North Carolina Wesleyan scored their first run with a solo homer in the sixth, followed by a sacrifice fly in the seventh that cut Kean’s lead to 4-2.

With the game on the line in the ninth, an RBI single brought NCWU within one run. However, Jason Basilicata stepped up to handle the pressure, securing his second save of the week and his fourth for the season.

Inside the Numbers:

Connor Ramsey earned the win after five solid innings, giving up just one run on five hits, with three strikeouts and three walks.

Basilicata shone in relief, pitching two and two-thirds innings. He allowed one run and four hits, striking out three with one walk.

Kean’s next stop on their spring break journey is Catholic University on Tuesday.
