Kendrick Lamar is taking the stage for the Super Bowl halftime show, and fans couldn’t be more excited. This performance comes right after he won five Grammy Awards, including song of the year for his hit “Not Like Us.” This track was part of an intense rap battle with Drake last spring, which caught plenty of attention online.
In a rare interview before the show, Lamar shared what fans can expect. “Storytelling,” he said. He emphasized that his music reflects his journey and that storytelling is a big part of his performances.
There was a lot of buzz about his setlist. Would he perform “Not Like Us”? And could Taylor Swift join him on stage? Swift was at the game to cheer on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. The pair previously worked together on “Bad Blood.”
In January, it was announced that SZA would join Lamar for the halftime show. The two artists have collaborated frequently. Their most recent work includes the tracks “Luther” and “Gloria” from Lamar’s surprise album “GNX,” and “30 for 30” from SZA’s latest album “Lana.”
Just before the performance, SZA released four new songs from the deluxe edition of “Lana.” Excitingly, she and Lamar are also set to go on tour together in April.
Meanwhile, fans were curious if Drake would show up. It turns out he’s in Melbourne, Australia, for a concert, so he won’t be at the Super Bowl.
