SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — San Diego women’s basketball had a remarkable season, thanks to standout seniors Kylie Horstmeyer and Truitt Reilly. Both were recognized as honorable mentions by the West Coast Conference for their impressive performances in the 2024-25 season.
This marks the second time Horstmeyer has earned this honor during her five-year career at USD; she received a similar mention in the 2023-24 season. Reilly, in her first and only year with the Toreros, made a significant impact in the front court.
Horstmeyer played a vital role, starting in all 29 regular season games. She led the team in minutes, points, and field goal percentage. During conference play, she consistently delivered top performances, scoring over 20 points in four games while shooting 47% from the field.
She played a key role in the Toreros’ memorable victories over Pacific and Santa Clara, which earned her the WCC Player of the Week award. Horstmeyer averaged 23 points and six rebounds in that week and achieved a career-high of 26 points during an overtime game against the Tigers, where she hit a clutch game-tying three-pointer.
Just days later, she raised the bar even higher, scoring 30 points against Portland in a fantastic shooting display, going 12-for-16 from the field. In her final game at Jenny Craig Pavilion, she celebrated her senior night by scoring 14 points and joined a select group of only 23 players to reach 1,000 career points at San Diego.
Reilly also shone brightly throughout the season, leading the team with six double-doubles and ranking third in the WCC with an average of 7.6 rebounds per game. Her scoring was impressive too, averaging 11.8 points per game with a solid 47% shooting percentage.
In a standout moment, she scored a career-high 25 points against Saint Mary’s right before the new year. In a crucial home game against Santa Clara, she played the entire 40 minutes, contributing 18 points, 18 rebounds, three assists, and three steals, helping the Toreros secure their first home conference win.
Now, the Toreros are gearing up for the West Coast Conference tournament in Las Vegas. They will compete on Thursday, March 7, at 12:00 p.m. against Pepperdine in their first-round matchup at Orleans Arena.
Stay tuned for exciting tournament action as USD continues its journey through the season!
