Hundreds of Indian workers with Sendan International Company Limited are facing a tough situation in Saudi Arabia, having gone unpaid for the last eight months. Many are from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and are struggling without basic necessities like food, shelter, and clean water.

Recently, a video of these workers surfaced on social media, highlighting their dire conditions. They expressed disappointment with the Indian Embassy in Riyadh, claiming that their requests for help have been ignored. “We have reached out many times but received no help,” said Shailesh Kumar Chauhan, one of the workers. He warned that if assistance doesn’t come soon, their situation could get worse.

In response, the workers have appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and their state leaders for help in returning home. Their families are also taking action, seeking support from local officials. Gopalganj MP Dr. Alok Kumar Suman has contacted the embassy to advocate for the workers, promising to work toward resolving their issues.

Sendan International, founded in 1994 and based in Yanbu, provides construction services across multiple sectors, including oil and gas. Conditions for workers in similar situations can sometimes be perilous. A recent survey by the International Labor Organization showed that global labor migration exposes workers to risks like non-payment and unsafe living conditions.

As incidents like these gain attention, social media has played a pivotal role in voicing the concerns of vulnerable workers worldwide. Many people are now calling for stronger regulations to protect workers abroad, emphasizing the importance of accountability for companies hiring international labor.
