United Way and Second Harvest Launch Regional Mobile Food Pantries: A Lifeline for Local Communities

United Way of Southeast Georgia is teaming up with Second Harvest Food Bank to bring Mobile Food Pantries to the area. These pantries will help residents access free grocery items during tough times.

The first event is on September 2 at 10 a.m. in Tattnall County, specifically at First United Pentecostal Church in Glennville. It’s important for those coming to have empty trunks to fit the groceries. For questions, residents can reach out to Joyce Nelson at 912-347-5047.

Another event is set for September 19 in Bulloch County at Brooklet First Baptist Church, also at 10 a.m.

These distributions are supported by a grant from United Way Worldwide, aimed at helping communities recover after Hurricane Helene. Carey Cassedy, Executive Director of United Way of Southeast Georgia, noted that this funding allows for multiple food distributions across the region, collaborating with local partners.

Cassedy emphasized that these events are open to anyone who needs help, not just those affected by the hurricane.
