SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Nevada Men’s Tennis team kicked off the Golden Gate Invitational on Friday with a mixed bag of results. They managed a win against Montana but lost to New Mexico State in a close match.

Nevada 3, New Mexico State 4
The day began well for Nevada, as they claimed the doubles point against the Aggies. They fell behind initially after losing on court two, but Max Contet and Rémy Trégourès evened things out with a 6-4 win on court three. The Wolf Pack secured the doubles point when Youssef Kadiri and Lucas Hammond continued their strong performance, defeating their opponents 6-4 on court one.
However, New Mexico State fought back in singles matches. Tobias Wallin beat Paul Théate 6-2, 6-3 on court two, and Feigin outplayed Kadiri in the first match 7-6, 6-3.
Rayen Hermassi brought the score to 2-2 with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 win over Urlaub on court four. But the Aggies regained the lead when Snell defeated Hammond 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Axel Huysmans then won on court five, defeating Matias Rojas 6-2, 6-3, tying it once again.
Unfortunately, the Aggies clinched the match when Stipetic defeated Trégourès 6-3, 6-3.
Nevada 4, Montana 1
In their second match of the day, Nevada again faced early challenges in doubles. After losing on court two, Kadiri and Hammond remained undefeated in dual matches with a 6-3 victory on court one. Huysmans and Greg Valente clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win on court three.
The Wolf Pack took a commanding 3-0 lead after winning two singles matches. Hermassi won on court three against McCall 6-3, 7-5, and Huysmans capped a great day with a 7-6 (3), 6-1 win on court four. Montana managed to grab one point when Wilkinson beat Valente 7-5, 6-4.
Cadidi sealed the win for Nevada, achieving his 24th victory of the season against Bittner 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.
Tomorrow, the team will face Hawai’i in their final match of the Golden Gate Invitational at 1 p.m.
