A winter snowstorm is arriving in Minnesota this Friday night and will continue into Saturday. Expect cold temperatures, with highs in the mid-20s and increasing cloud cover throughout the day.
A winter storm warning is in effect for Brown, Nicollet, and Redwood counties starting at 6 p.m. Fridays. Goodhue, Le Sueur, and Rice counties will follow with a warning that begins at midnight. Meanwhile, Renville, Sibley, and Yellow Medicine counties will have a winter weather advisory starting at 6 p.m. The western part of the state and the metro area will also be under this advisory after midnight.

The snow will start in southwestern Minnesota on Friday night and spread across the south and east parts of the state on Saturday. Areas along I-90 could see 6 to 10 inches of snow, while Redwood Falls and Red Wing may get 3 to 5 inches, and Faribault could receive 4 to 6 inches. In the Twin Cities, expect around 3 to 4 inches, with 2 to 4 inches in the northern metro.
After the storm, colder air will sweep through the region. Saturday’s temperatures will drop to the mid-20s, with wind chills making it feel like the teens. Sunday will be even colder, with highs in the teens and wind chills dipping into the single digits. Next week’s highs will range between the teens and 20s, and there’s another chance for snow by the end of the week.
