Google Labs has introduced a new app named Dreambeans, designed for both iOS and Android. The app uses AI to generate personalized lifestyle suggestions based on data from a user’s Google services.
Gozde Oznur, the product lead for Dreambeans, explained that the app curates a selection of “stories” that encompass various lifestyle suggestions and experiences. These include recommendations for places to visit, topics to explore, and events to consider.
Dreambeans creates its content using permissions granted by users, leveraging Personal Intelligence to connect information across Google apps like Gmail, Calendar, Photos, YouTube, and Search History. For instance, it might suggest a nearby coffee shop or provide insights about living with a new puppy if such an event is noted in the user’s Google Calendar.
The app also aims to mitigate “doomscrolling” by limiting daily stories to 10 to 14, encouraging users to take inspiration from these suggestions and engage with the world around them.
Regarding privacy, Oznur stated that only the user has access to their stories, and they have the option to delete their data at any time. Users can also choose which Google services to connect with the app.
The name “Dreambeans” reflects both the app’s functionality and the idea of starting the day with fresh inspiration. Oznur noted that the app works overnight to distill data, providing users with concise suggestions in the morning.
Currently, Dreambeans is available only to eligible U.S.-based Google AI Ultra subscribers, although a waitlist is open for personal Google account users.
