“We’re not making excuses,” Veach said, “but he was dealing with a significant health issue before the Super Bowl. However, the way the Eagles played, it might not have changed the outcome.”
Kelce’s numbers reflect his struggles. He had no catches in the first half and finished the game with only four catches for 39 yards. Just a week prior, he managed two catches for 19 yards in the AFC Championship game. It’s a stark contrast to the high expectations fans have for him.
As Kelce finishes his twelfth season, he’s become a standout player with ten Pro Bowl selections and three Super Bowl titles. He also holds the record for the most postseason receptions in NFL history. With so many achievements, questions about his future and potential retirement are natural.
Despite these questions, Veach believes Kelce is far from done competing. “He has one year left on his contract and still has the fire to play,” Veach said. “We’re certainly looking forward to having him back.”
