The Switch 2 is set to launch soon, and there are whispers about a new Xbox handheld expected in 2025.

A recent report from Windows Central indicates that Microsoft is teaming up with a hardware partner, much like how Lenovo collaborated with Valve on SteamOS.

This upcoming gadget, codenamed ‘Keenan’, is designed to feel “unmistakably Xbox.” It’s likely to be more focused on PC gaming. The device will feature an official Xbox guide button and will be based on Windows, putting both the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass front and center. Users will also have the option to install third-party programs like Steam.

Interestingly, this device is just a precursor to future plans. Microsoft aims to release a dedicated gaming handheld by 2027. They’ve already confirmed they are working on a new console as well, so stay tuned for more updates.

As of now, this is just a rumor, and there’s been no official word from Microsoft about any handheld devices this year.

In recent moves, Xbox has shifted its strategy. Starting in 2024, it will bring more games to different platforms. Titles like Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Pentiment are heading to systems like the PlayStation 5 and the Switch.

Moreover, Xbox plans to reintroduce Call of Duty on Nintendo platforms. Phil Spencer, Microsoft’s Gaming CEO, recently expressed his excitement about the Switch 2 and plans for more multiplatform releases.
