Join the Vallejo Block Party: Enjoy Delicious Food, Exciting Activities, and Free Giveaways!

Union Baptist Church is hosting a vibrant block party in Vallejo this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This fun-filled day will bring together nearly 50 local vendors, offering everything from free haircuts to live performances.

Gene Carter, the community outreach chairperson, emphasized the event’s goal: “We want everyone to see the positive things happening in our city.”

Kaiser Permanente will be on-site, providing free health services, including blood pressure checks and cancer screenings. They’ll also share educational resources. For students heading back to school, there will be free backpacks and school supplies available, along with exciting prize giveaways.

This year, the church is pulling out all the stops. “We’re doubling up on everything,” Carter explained.

Assemblywoman Lori Wilson is set to attend, receiving recognition for her dedication to the community. Carter noted, “She’s done so much for Vallejo, and we want to strengthen our relationship with her.”

Food lovers can enjoy authentic Southern cuisine from Earl’s Rocket 88 Smoke House and hearty soul food from Uncle Snook’s Catering.

For entertainment, attendees will see vibrant performances from local cheer squads, including the Jesse Bethel High School’s “Lady Jags” and the Elite Public School Cheer Squad.

The event idea came from Pastor Darnell Manuel, who aimed to connect the community with resources. “He wanted to create a free, accessible event for those who may not know about the services available,” Carter shared.

Kids will enjoy face painting and bounce houses. For those needing back-to-school haircuts, Narco McFarland Haircuts will provide free services. Empower Solano will also offer counseling, financial literacy, and other health education services for attendees seeking support.

This block party highlights the community’s resilience and spirit. With local organizations coming together to support each other, it’s a great way to celebrate the end of summer while providing valuable resources for all. For more information, visit the Union Baptist Church’s official website.
