Kickoff a New Era: UNT Softball Launches Season This Friday in Louisiana!

UNT Softball Kicks Off New Season

The UNT softball team is gearing up for an exciting start under new head coach Cody White. Their season begins Friday at the Twisted Vines Bayou Bash at McNeese State University. They’ll face No. 2 Texas Tech at 11 a.m. and then take on the hosts, McNeese, at 4 p.m. You can catch the games live on ESPN+.

On Saturday, the team will head to Lafayette for the 40th Annual Louisiana Classic. They’ll play Jax State at 1 p.m. and the home team, the Ragin’ Cajuns, at 3:30 p.m. The weekend wraps up on Sunday with a matchup against ULM in Lake Charles at 1 p.m.

Coach White is excited about the tough competition to start the year. Texas Tech was the national runner-up last season, while McNeese and Louisiana have histories of making it to the NCAA Tournament. “Scheduling tough teams early prepares us for conference play and helps us aim for the postseason,” White said.

The Mean Green return a strong squad this year, with 10 letter winners. Key players include catcher Elizabeth Moffitt, who scored 42 runs last season, and Madison Conley, who hit 10 home runs. Also returning are starters Anneca Anderson, Riley McNemar, and Taylor Platt.

Last season, the team achieved 36 wins, the third-most in program history, and made it to the finals of the American Conference Championship.

As the new season kicks off, fans are eager to see how the team performs against these challenging opponents. Social media buzz around the team is picking up, with many expressing optimism and excitement for what’s to come.
