The IDF is considering targeted operations against key Palestinian figures if current talks for a ceasefire extension don’t succeed, according to reports from Palestinian sources and Al-Akhbar. They warn that such actions might escalate tensions in the region.
Officials from Palestinian militant groups have been told to stay vigilant. They are advised to avoid using wireless communication and take the threats seriously, as the situation continues to develop.
In the midst of stalled negotiations, there are reports that Hamas fighters are shutting down their phones to reduce risk.
On Thursday, Hamas spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Obeida, emphasized the significance of Ramadan, referring to it as the “month of jihad.” He noted that the Palestinian resistance had voiced its demands regarding the ceasefire terms, including details about the release of hostages.
Despite Israel’s response to the agreement, Obeida affirmed their commitment to it, highlighting the importance of honoring those who have lost their lives. He accused Israel of failing to meet its obligations on humanitarian aid and the movement of people in Gaza, stating that hostilities continue both in Gaza and surrounding areas.
