UNT Softball Faces Memphis: A Game of Ups and Downs
In Memphis, Tennessee, it was a mixed day for the UNT softball team as they played the Tigers. They lost the first game 1-0 but bounced back to win the second game 4-2.
In the first game, UNT struggled despite out-hitting Memphis 7-3. Anneca Anderson, the starting pitcher, gave an impressive performance, allowing just one run with seven strikeouts. Unfortunately, the Mean Green left eight runners stranded, which cost them the game.
Game two saw a change of fortune. Elizabeth Moffitt shined, hitting an RBI single in the first inning and launching a solo home run in the third. Madison Conley also contributed with another run in the fourth inning. Although Memphis fought back with two runs in the fifth, Blayze McNemar sealed the game with her first career home run in the sixth inning.
Britney Lewinski stood tall on the mound, completing the game with no earned runs and securing her 11th complete game of the season.
As weather forecasts threaten to disrupt play, the teams are set for a showdown in the series finale this Sunday.
