Comedian Bill Burr recently called out Elon Musk during an episode of NPR’s Fresh Air podcast. He’s promoting his new Hulu special, Drop Dead Years, which aims to highlight the current political climate.
Burr shared his frustrations about how regular folks are caught up in political arguments. He believes a small group of elite individuals have taken control, focusing on their lavish lifestyles while the rest of us struggle. “It’s just a few nerds competing over who has the biggest infinity pool while the rest are pushed aside,” he explained.
When asked to clarify, Burr pointed to Musk, saying, “That idiot Elon Musk, who evidently is a Nazi.” He mentioned Musk’s controversial hand gesture at a past inauguration, which many saw as a Nazi salute, stating, “I just refuse to believe it was accidental.”
Burr also criticized the liberal response, saying they often just complain instead of taking action. “You’re going to leave the country over one guy with dyed hair plugs? Why doesn’t he leave?” Burr questioned, calling out the disproportionate fear surrounding Musk.
Musk has become a polarizing figure, especially since Trump’s re-election. While Trump claims Musk isn’t running any government tasks, Musk’s influence is clear and has become fodder for jokes among celebrities.
For example, during a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Cate Blanchett humorously remarked on the political situation in the U.S. Comedian Chelsea Handler also chimed in at the SXSW film festival, asking, “Did anyone vote for Elon Musk to be the president?” She called for a united front from both sides of the political aisle against Musk’s influence.
